The Remedy Garden has been designed to benefit someone living with early stage dementia.
The brightly coloured flowers are not only visually stimulating to us, but will also attract insects creating movement and sound within the garden.
The containers catch rainfall which is then easily accessible for watering. The still water will also reflect the colours and shapes of the surrounding plants and creates the opportunity to dip hands into the pool.
The lavender and herbs will fill the air with scent and the tall flowers will wave in the breeze. The fruit tree, strawberries and vegetables allow for growing and picking edibles. The crunch of gravel underfoot will feel familiar and comforting.
The garden is low maintenance and can be left to naturalise without becoming overrun and unmanageable. The garden will be transplanted into The Amwell Care Home in Melton Mowbray to be enjoyed and cared for by the residents after the show.
